Buckets of Rockerbye Love

Buckets of Rockerbye Love

I can't be the only one who always buys a new Halloween trick or treat bag last minute every year spending way too much money because the cheap on you bought last year got destroyed?   Well no more!!  I'm ready this year with an amazing quality handmade momma bag that will last.   Introducing Max and Meenas Buckets of Love bag.  Super cute and really easy!

The bag was originally designed for Easter so it comes with some adorable animal appliques which are perfect because it can also be made reversible! So you can make it Easter and then Reverse it to Halloween!  It's such a great base to use your imagination and go crazy with too! My kids love anything they can put toys in so these buckets are a hit!  The best fabric is woven but as you can see I used a kids cotton lycra panel for mine.  The pattern has you use fusible fleece so using the panel worked just fine!. I'd just make sure you use woven for your lining if you plan to use all CL for the outside.  The rest of my bag was made from the Halloween woven which is available for this pre-order here. Perfect timing!

Adding the panel was really easy- I just simply color blocked one of the main bucket pieces to fit the panel and added that extra to the other piece.   Here is a quick tutorial.

First I folded the panel in half and laid my pattern piece on top of it to cut the width as wide as possible and graphic centered.

Next, I laid my cut panel on top of the pattern piece and marked along the panel edge to get my excess.

You'll want to double that excess creating an extra long pattern piece for your fabric main that way you still only have two seams.  This creates a cleaner look rather than doing extra color blocking. Make sure you cut your fleece the same way;).

Your lining you can cut as regular pieces. You'll attach your main and panel the same way as directed in the pattern, the only difference is that your handles will line up differently and not along the side seams.  If you cut your lining out of the regular pieces you'll still have the side seams to line up your handles. Continue the pattern as directed and you'll have your bucket!

So adorable! Max and Meena have been incredibly awesome and while the bucket back is usually free with a purchase they have offered it to us at Rockerbye free!  You'll just use this code rbdbucket at check out!   Make sure to share your bags in their facebook group and give a thank you!  I can't wait to see all your Halloween trick or treat bags.  Don't forget to grab your woven and panels during the pre-order here.

Happy Sewing and Rocking,

Michelle

Love these. My kids like having buckets near their beds to toss things in at the end of the day.

These are awesome. I have some store bought ones that were 50 each for Halloween! I can’t wait to make for holidays. Can they be scaled down to smaller buckets?

Toni

Every holiday needs one of these buckets!
